Artist Spotlight: Constance Kilgore
“Suddenly I find I am a patient here and seeing
this art installation has made the visit all worthwhile.”
Constance Kilgore has been selected as the newest featured artist for the Healing Arts Gallery at Smilow Cancer Center (Yale New Haven Health). As both an artist and a Yogi, she is able to capture the calming effects of nature in her paintings. Her selected paintings feature landscapes with billowing clouds that transport the viewer to the breezy shoreline, enabling them to truly relax their mind - an effect that is especially needed when spending long periods of time at the Cancer Center.
As we were installing her work earlier this morning, a patient passing by noted, “Suddenly I find I am a patient here and seeing this art installation has made the visit all worthwhile.”
The Hospital Art Program at Smilow Cancer Center contains over 700 pieces of original art and serves to provide emotional healing for patients and their families. Part of the program is the Healing Arts Gallery: a solo-exhibition gallery that showcases collections of work by New England and Mid-Atlantic artists. The gallery, curated by CAMA, rotates every 6 months.
Constance's exhibition runs through December 2018. To learn more about Constance, visit her website at www.constancekilgore.com
